When talk of storms begins to surface it’s time to prepare, make sure our survival kit is packed and ready, and it’s time to secure things. Isaac has been the talk of the week as he has made his way closer and closer to Florida {and, many other areas}. He’s been unpredictable…alot like LIFE.
Which path will he choose? How strong will he be? Should we make plans today…do we walk away from his possible wrath or wait it out?
Waiting out the storm…kinda reminds me of the things we go through in life.
We all have our own way of dealing with such things. Make plans, talk with friends, tune into the forecast…yet again, these are often the paths we follow as we cope with frustrations, sadness, changes…it’s just part of life.
And, while we may feel rather prepared most days, it’s when the storm hits that we are reminded we probably should have checked on just how up to date our survival plans were. When things are going smoothly it’s easy to lose sight of making sure things are in place that will help us deal with the storm.
When the sky clouds over, when the rain comes…that’s when it comes to mind that we need to make sure we’ve got all the resources in place that we may need. For me, one of the most important tools I know I need in my survival bag is FAITH. My faith will help me to quiet the fears, and it will give me the strength I need to prepare for the storm.
And, although no two storms are the same, I know that my faith will be the lifeline I need to carry me through. It’s so easy for anxiety to build as we anticipate a storm, and it’s especially easy for it to be present in the midst of it. Even though I focus on my faith, I’ll let you in on a little secret…I still deal with anxiety at times. Yep, that beast can rear its ugly head, but focusing on faith and a huge dose of HOPE is just what I need to push through the difficult moments. Whether you are getting ready for Isaac or dealing with other storms of life, I wish for you to find a huge dose of faith and hope to hold on to. Not sure where to find it…well, for me, I pray, and knowing that I can let my worries and anxieties go to God is an amazing comfort. And, you know how much I believe in inspirational quotes and thoughts so I love flipping through some of my favorite books and inspirations when I need a few extra reminders about putting anxiety in its place. 🙂 And, don’t forget that sometimes beautiful things {blessings} come from the storms.
Praying for safety for all those in the path of Isaac. As I said on my Facebook page…may he be gentle with us.
*I was going to share the video for the song “Blessings” by Laura Story because it is one of my favorites, and I came across this video of her when I was looking for the song. I thought I would share this one with you because I just love how she shares her faith. You can easily find the song video on YouTube so be sure to listen to it if you have not ever heard it. 🙂
Hugs!!

Hi Anne! Thank you…we are doing fine from the storm. I was so thankful it was not as bad as initially expected but am so sorry to see how damaging it has been for other areas. I so agree…I definitely think our faith just grows in difficult times…helping us to cope with other moments we must face. Such a comfort to know God is always walking with us! Hugs, my friend!! 🙂

Hi Dawn!! Oh, I am so happy to hear this…you know I don’t ever know or plan what I am going to write for my “Sunset Sunday” posts, and I truly feel as though God just gives me the message that I need to share. And, I love that it usually feels like a message that I also need. 🙂 Yes, BREATHE is definitely a word I focus on…I even have a cute bracelet I need to share on the blog that helps me remember to do this!! And, it truly is helpful to focus on breathing and relaxing…I can most always feel myself becoming calmer when I take time to do this. Thank you…I’m glad you like the photos. Even the dark, cloudy days are beautiful at the beach…just a beauty all their own. I’m so thankful our weather has not been worse but have been thinking of all those that are dealing with such scary situations from it in other areas. Yay!! ~ so happy ART is blessing you so much!! It is such a beautiful therapy, and I hope you enjoy lots of it this b’day year!! Hugs to you!!
