Winter Wonderland…gone for now

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

First things first…I apologize for not posting yesterday as I  said I would.  I had a busy day so I'll do a little catching up today!  :)  I want to thank all of you for your sweet emails and comments.  I cannot begin to tell you how much each one means to me and how excited I was to hear that you all enjoyed checking out my blog!  Now, I just look forward to sharing something new with you each day!  Thanks so much for being a part of this with me!

The other week we had a beautiful snow…I awoke that morning to find a "winter wonderland" out my window!  It was so pretty, and it just kept coming down!  You know what I love most about a snow day?…Just watching it snow, falling softly, creating this magical atmosphere!  And, it's even better if I can stay home and not have to be out driving in it!  Southern girls and snow…well, let's just say, it's not always  the best combination! haha

Thought I would share a few pictures from that day with you.  I love this sweet garden statue that i have and just loved the picture of him surrounded by white fluffiness!  Too bad I could not persuade Tucker to pose beside him!  However, he was way more interested in seeing just how many snowballs he could get tangled in his paws!

Behind our house there is a great walking path, and then, on the other side of the path there are train tracks.  Yes, hearing the train go by does have a bit of a nostalgic feel to it, I must say…especially when it comes through blowing its horn.  However, try being outside taking a leisurely walk when the train comes by blaring its horn.  Nostalgia lost!  But, for the most part, it is pretty neat, especially when the Barnum and Bailey train came through…and, had to stop for a while.  Oh, yes, Tucker and I were trying to see if we saw any monkeys, tigers, lions, or any other animals!  And, lots of parents came out with their kids to see if they could spot something interesting, too.  And, when it snows…the trees are so pretty…and, if you look closely you can see one of the trains.  Definitely a day for a cuppa cocoa!

I just thought these pictures below were neat so I wanted to share them with you.  Both of these pictures were made on the night it snowed around midnight.  I promise that the second photo was taken just seconds after the first!  :)  Honestly, the sky is so beautiful to me at night when it snows…it has a pinkish hue to it and just looks so calm and peaceful to me.  So, I wanted to try to capture this and stepped out that night to take a few pictures for you.  Of course, I was trying a few different options with my camera, as you will see.  However, it was the second picture that captured just what I saw!  This is just how the sky looked around midnight that night!  I just love how it almost looks illuminated…as though it's glowing.  I just smiled as I looked up and thought "Well, that's just God's little nightlight for the world tonight!"  (Ok, ok…I confess, I did add those stars to the first picture!! teeheehee  Although we do have some beautiful starry nights here in Virginia!)

Ta da…God's nightlight in the sky that night!  I wish you could have been here to see it…but, here's the next best thing!

Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without sharing a picture of Tucker enjoying the snow.  Oh, he does love it!  It's no wonder since he's no stranger to the snow since he was born in Germany and always had fun playing in it there.  Doesn't this picture just scream "Who me?? I don't know anything about MISCHIEF!"!!  And, it also kinda looks like he's "caught in the act"!! Oh yes, not only did he have snow all on his little beard, but remember those snowballs I mentioned??  Yes, mommy loves those!!  What a tangled mess!

And, just in case you're not already chilly enough…thought I would leave you with this…

But, guess what…it's 60 degrees here today!  Wow…what a change!  Now, I love snuggling up in a warm coat, cute scarf, and sassy boots (I'll show you these later!), but there is just something about a day like today!  It just screams SPRING FEVER!!  Makes you feel like you have more energy and can just accomplish so much more…so, I'm off to get busy with my rather long "to do" list…and, yes, you can bet I'll make time for a walk outside!  I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday!  I'm thinking we might just need a day at the beach tomorrow on this blog…grab your flip flops and join me!  See you in the sand!
