Sunset Sunday ~ In Search of Serenity

It seems as though Sunday arrives so quickly…before you know it, the week has passed by, the weekend rushes away, and we are preparing for a new week.  The word that seems to stand out in my mind is “preparing”.  How do we prepare? Whether it’s getting ready for a busy week ahead, changes we are making, a move, or something simple, things tend to go a little smoother when we have put a few preparations in place.

These sunset pictures seem to showcase a sense of calmness and serenity, as most sunsets do.  I don’t know about you, but I kinda like to figure out how I can have more of these things in my life…on a daily basis.  And, it takes a little {sometimes a lot} of work on my part.  But, once I’ve gotten the hang of it…prepared a bit…it seems to make a beautiful difference.

The start of a new day holds so much promise and opportunity, and I’ve decided that although I am not really a morning person by nature…well, the early morning is truly an amazing time to take advantage of as I search for ways of finding more serenity in the every day.  I have found that starting my day out on the patio or in my sunroom is an inspiring way to begin my day rather than rushing straight to my computer.  I love taking my breakfast outside, a few of my favorite inspirational books, my journal, and of course, Tucker so I can enjoy the stillness of the morning.

This gives me an opportunity to begin my day with a dose of faith and hope, journal about the day before, and fill up a few more lines in my gratitude journal.  I’m telling you…it makes a difference.  The stillness, the soft sounds of an early day, moments of filling my heart and mind with inspiration and gratitude…that’s what makes the biggest difference.  Yes, recalling things that happened the day before that are surely blessings…things to be grateful for…that is the best way to start my day off on a positive note.  It’s almost as though I get excited…well, I do…just thinking about what the new day will bring…what it will hold.

And, of course, because life gets busy and seems to stay that way, there are days when I don’t start my day off like this. I can always tell when I have missed out on these moments.  Sometimes I work them in later in the day, in the evening, or before heading to bed.  The most important part is that I work them in.  Even if it’s while I’m exercising…taking time to just think about things I am grateful for can certainly add peace and joy to my day!

So, today, I hope you can find a few moments to be thankful for the things that make you smile, remind you of your blessings, tug at your heart in a warm way, and encourage you to keep on keeping on.  Before you know it, all these things will help you to start feeling more prepared…more prepared to enjoy the JOY in your life!  And, this is when you get to experience the beauty of serenity!

Hugs and Blessings,
