I’ve been busy in the studio splashing color around and flipping through my sketchbooks looking at all the pieces I want to bring to life. I am usually so excited to head out into my studio to “get my ART on” and often find that once I get there I have difficulty deciding just where to start. A head full of ideas can be a blessing, but sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming. Do you ever feel this way?…Just have too many things fighting for time in your head? I have found that thumbing through my sketches really helps in a way. First, I see all the ideas I have started working on and begin to think about how I want to bring them to life. And, I truly feel so inspired to just choose something to start working on once this happens because I get all excited thinking about adding color to those pencil lines.

Other times, my inspiration pops up from other sources. Oh, yes, there are so many things that inspire me. You know how I love taking photography walks, spending time on the beach, enjoying some of my favorite magazines, and even taking a tour through my photographs. This week, however, it was another fun source that sparked a fun idea for a new sketch…a lovely piece of jewelry. Yep, that’ll do it for most girls, huh?!

I ordered this pretty owl necklace from Shannon of Upon a Dream Designs. She opened her Etsy shoppe this summer, and I had taken an online class with her so I was happy to take a peek at it when she shared it in our group. She has lots of cute things in her shoppe, and this sweet owl stole my heart instantly. I just had to have this necklace so I immediately added it to my cart.

I was so excited when it arrived! The owl is even cuter in person! I knew right away I wanted to sketch her (I think she’s a girl since she’s so sparkly!).

So, I did just that.

I decided to make her colorful and will probably paint another one in a different color combo with another background. Whooo knows! ~ But, this cutie will be available as a print and note cards in the shoppe soon.

And, of course, she’ll come with the option of a wise ‘n sassy message!
Happy Friday ~ Hope you have a great weekend!! Looks like we may be getting some rain so I’m thinking I may enjoy some time in the studio!! 🙂

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
This is lovely Ann-Margaret! And the view from your studio, oh my gosh!! I am so jealous. I look out onto my street and neigbhors’ houses. Not the most inspiring view at all. Oh, well!
Give yourself and Tucker a hug for me, okay?
Thank you so much, Paty! 🙂 I am so thankful for that view…I have always wanted to look out to see water while working and was blessed to have a pretty lake in front of my studio before we moved here…but, this view makes me so happy…it is so different. Because of how my studio was set up there I only got to see the view when I was working on packaging items to ship. LOL I can’t tell you how many times I will walk outside with Tucker or just to sit on the patio and look out and just thank God for the beauty it offers. I’ve got an extra spot in the studio so all you’ve got to do is hop on over, and we’ll have a cuppa tea and enjoy the view!! Thanks for our hugs…sending some right back to you, sweet friend!!
You just made my day!!! Thank you so much Ann-Margaret, your art is gorgeous, I’ve already found a print perfect for one of my girls’ rooms. I’ll be back to buy some goodies soon, let me know when you add the owl print and notecards 🙂
Hope you’re having a great weekend.
