Tuesdays with Tucker {the Westie}…Making Friends

Well, she did it again!!….Yep, that’s right…my sweet mom spotted a Westie while traveling last week!   Can you believe it?!! 🙂  It amazes me…that chick seems to always spot one of “my kind” when she is away from me! I can assure you she does NOT like for us to be separated, but Poppy was heading to North Carolina for a conference so she tagged along.  I can’t blame her; it’s a beautiful area so I know she had fun snapping some photos, doing a little shopping, and hanging with Poppy.  And, who in the world would have guessed that she would have ended up doing a spontaneous photo shoot with the likes of this handsome fella above?!!  He’s a cutie, too, huh?!! 🙂  I’m telling ya…we Westies ROCK…I’m just sayin’!! She was strolling along the campus in Chapel Hill when all of a sudden she spotted a little white something bebopping along.  She instantly knew it was another “me”!! The woman headed across the street and walked right up to him and his owner!  Nope, nothing stops this woman when she sees a Westie!! Ahem…doesn’t she tell me to NOT talk to strangers??!!! I rest my case…but, I digress….she had tunnel vision once she saw him!

And, so next thing you know she is chatting with MacDog’s owner {this is his whole name, and they call him Mac}, and they both laughed about all the funny little idiosyncrasies that we have in common.  Yes, we both get a little “growly” when the guys try to give our moms a kiss goodbye as they head out of the house, we will both act as though we are “attacking” our mom’s leg when the said guys try to lean over and hug her, and a few other things that just make us special! 🙂  My mom and Mr. Steve {Mac’s owner} laughed about how we rule the roost…but, most importantly, they had fun sharing stories about how wonderful it is to be the parent of a Westie.  My mom started snapping pictures of Mac, and Mr. Steve said he just couldn’t get over how Mac was loving on my mom so….he said that Mac was friendly, but he had not ever seen him take to a stranger like he was to my mom.  My mom said Mac was rubbing against her, putting his sweet face on her leg as she was squatting down, and just being so affectionate.  {{You know I’m really cool if I’m ok with all this…my mom has taught me about sharing!!}} 🙂  My mom told Mr. Steve that Mac just knew that she is a “Westie Mom”!!  Mr. Steve even asked if I was traveling with them because he thought maybe Mac smelled my scent…he was truly in awe at how Mac was loving on her.  So, there she is snapping one picture after another one {{and, she got some cute ones!!…I’ll share more later}}, having the best time!  I know that my mom’s heart is the happiest, most inspired, calm, stress free when she has her camera in her hand…and, especially if her subject is me or another Westie!  She and Mr. Steve strolled along and chatted…he told her about some of the historical homes along the path, gave her some info about some of the spots on campus, asked about me,  and shared more stories about Mac.  They walked for awhile and talked more before she headed back to the hotel.  My mom got Mr. Steve’s email address and will be sending him some pictures from Mac’s photo shoot.  Isn’t it amazing how two strangers can meet and feel as though they are instant friends, as though they have known each other for a long time…just because…of two sweet furry babies?!!! 🙂  I know my mom had the biggest SMILE on her face as she drove back that afternoon.  She almost didn’t go to campus that afternoon to take pictures, but she knew it would do her good…just to get out with that camera in hand and enjoy the sunshine.  She had no idea just what all that afternoon held!  I love surprises like this, don’t you?

And, more than that…I love….LOVE…yep, that real and true thing that guides us all…helps us through when we’re feeling blue…makes us smile for no reason at all!  {{I love this picture of Mac and Mr. Steve…it really doesn’t need any explanation at all…I think it truly conveys the LOVE they have for one another.}}  🙂

I hope you feel alot of LOVE each day!

*{MacDOG, you made my mom so happy that sunny day in Chapel Hill, North Carolina…she will not ever forget meeting you and Mr. Steve…and, I will forever be grateful to you both for adding a ton of SUNSHINE to her day when she was missing me so!  Your friend, Tucker}
