Day in the Sun

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Today was Tucker's follow up appointment with his vet so we could see if his eye is healing as it needs to.  The vet said his eye has started to heal, but he would like for us to go ahead to see the eye specialist, as they have a special procedure they can do that should help the eye to heal much faster.  So, you know me…whatever this furry baby needs….mommy will do!  :)  I don't know if you have figured this out or not…but, I love this little guy!  :)  He's been with me…with us…through all sorts of things, and it is his constant, unconditional love that has put a SMILE on my face more times than I can possibly count!  Goodness, God knew what He was doing when He created furry babies!!  Our vet explained how the procedure would be done by the specialist.  I was happy to hear that Tucker would not have to be put to sleep, as they would just use numbing drops.  So, we headed home, and I called the specialty clinic.  The specialist had an appointment the next day so I was relieved to know that we did not have to wait for something to open up.  The sooner the better!  The above picture shows you one of the things Tucker loves to do…bask in the sun!  I know….you are thinking that he might get sunburned…not to worry…I have consulted with our vet regarding the possibility of this.  And, while he does have that sweet PINK skin underneath his white fur coat, the vet said it is ok if he hangs out in the sun a bit…just not too much…Because, yes, doggies can get sun burned!! I know, I know…you learn something every day, huh?!! lol  Could you imagine me trying to put sunscreen on him?  What a mess that would be!  I can assure you I would spend more time trying to catch him after he realized what I was up to.  :)  We did have a little scare a while back about a little spot on his nose…there was a possibility it might have been skin cancer.  Another story for another day (it turned out to be fine), but let's just say that I seriously considered sunscreen for Mr. Tucker!

And, while I do not leave my baby unattended…well, it is nice to know that "Miss Robbie" is being "watchful" and keeping an eye on Tucker, too!  :)  She is going to be such a sweet momma…once again…all over again!  It's not everyone that has a built in babysitter like this!  How lucky I am to have "Miss Robbie" staying with us for awhile.  And, yes, you know I will be sad when it is time for her to go.  No time for goodbyes just yet though…she's still nesting!

Hope you are having some time to soak in a little SUN!!
