*Shh….don’t tell my momma that I’m posting Tuesday’s post on Friday!! Maybe she won’t notice…ya think?? Oh, yes, this was me the other week…SPLISH SPLASH I was having a BLAST!! Yep, as you know we are in northern Alabama so we had some bad storms with many tornadoes to hit our area and lost electricity for 6 days. My mom and I were back and forth in the bathroom all day and evening on April 27th since the sirens continued to go off, and we kept getting the WEATEHRCALL letting us know we were in the direct path for some bad stuff. We were so very blessed though, as our neighborhood did not have any damage. However, there were so many areas that did, and our hearts break for the loss so many have suffered. Please keep these families in your prayers that they might find peace and comfort during this difficult time, as many lost loved ones and their homes. The stories have been so sad…such devastation for so many…can you imagine opening the door to the bathroom where you have been to try to stay as safe as possible only to find that it opened directly to the outside because the rest of the home was gone? I can’t either, but some people experienced this. My mom and I have been talking alot about STRENGTH, FAITH, AND HOPE…taking time to count our BLESSINGS and praying for those that have endured such loss. FAMILY is so very important especially during times like this, and we were so thankful to be able to drive to see my grandparents for a few days. My momma and I stayed right here by ourselves for two nights in the dark, as Poppy was in DC for some meetings. Bet my momma will be sharing a picture of the pretty roses he surprised her with one day…said it was for us enduring the hardship of the frightening day of the storms…alone. Good thinking on his part ’cause she was kinda upset that he was away…don’t worry, I made her feel better!! 🙂 Now, back to our roadtrip…well I tell you what, those folks in southern Alabama were so excited to see me!! They had not seen me in a long time because I usually stay at camp when mommy and Poppy travel. Not this time…nobody was leaving me behind!
You know my grandma has a green thumb so my momma is always happy to pull out her camera and snap a few pictures of some of the pretties in the yard. Needless to say, grandma has gone and done it again…got their yard looking so alive with bright colors of all sorts of flowers. She loves gardening…says it’s therapy for her, and you want to know a little secret….my momma is finding this to be true, too. Now, she may not admit it to you just yet, but she might…I’ve been noticing how she is so excited about getting flowers for the patio, digging around in the dirt, and enjoying being outside for a little dose of therapy. Makes her SMILE…must be something good about it! Don’t you just love all the colors above?!! These flowers are planted in an old wheelbarrow that my mom just loves; grandma always plants some special things in it. And, I love these cute mushrooms she tossed in…so.stinkin’.CUTE, I tell ya!! 🙂
Now, for the real FUN!! Yep, you know Poppy wanted to get me in the pool. At first, my momma was a little hesitant {the woman is a bit protective of me if you hadn’t noticed! haha Have mercy…I know you have!!} Anyhoo, Poppy assured her it would be fine and that I would love it. They got a pool last year for our yard, and we had loads of fun splashing around in it so I don’t know what the woman was so worried about. 🙂 In I go, and I’m dog paddling like nobody’s business…yep, just like they say…it all comes back to ya!! I would swim from Poppy to my momma all by myself…I’m such a BIG BOY, ya know! And, of course you can go ahead and just say it…I do kinda resemble and oversized rat {ok, maybe we could just say a wet teddy bear…yeah, that’s better!}…but, I’m a doggone cute one. The picture at the top makes my momma and Poppy laugh so…ok, I guess it is funny! That woman always catches me doing silly things. My granddaddy loved seeing me have so much fun in the pool and even made a little video…must remember to get a copy of it from him. And, Kaylee, my sweet auntie, gave me so much lovin’…as did Dillon, my TALL uncle!! That Dillon…I tell you what…kinda melts my heart to be honest with you ~ the way he dotes on me, loves me so. I think it kinda rocks that they all love me so much. I happened to hear through the grapevine that Kaylee and Dillon said “Wow….we’re gonna get to see Tucker!” when they heard we were heading their way. Oh, I’m sure they were kinda happy to see my momma and Poppy, too!
We had a great time being home with them. There was lots of good food, hanging out on the deck, lovin’ on granny, staying up late, and plenty of hugs! So, you see, often times there will be something good to come from something bad. The storms were really scary, but we did have the blessing of getting to see our family.
Hope you’re getting to spend some time with the ones you LOVE!

Oh Ann-Margaret I’m so glad to hear you weathered the storm – but what a scare! It’s hard to imagine you, Tucker and your Mom alone there in the dark. I’m so sorry you went through such a scary time. Nothing like up here in VA. I was so saddened by the loss that the tornados brought to the area.
One of my son’s best friend’s Mom is from Tuscaloosa and she started a huge grassroots effort to help tornado victims in her home town (although they live here in VA). Their effort got so large, that WalMart donated a truck and driver and Friday they drove down from Northern VA to Alabama to deliver all of the food/supplies to those in need. You can see her FB fanpage – NOVA for Bama.
I am so happy to see pictures of Tucker though – and in the POOL! He liked it?? Our Bentley wasn’t too thrilled about the water when we put him in the Bay a few times. I love the pictures you shared of your Boys. 🙂 It’s been nice to catch up with you!
Hi, Sweet Friend!! Thank you for your sweet message. Yes, it was such a scary day! And, actually it was just Tucker and me in the bathroom! 🙂 We drove to my parents’ a few days later, but Tucker and I were holding down the fort for the first 2 nights…in the dark! 🙂 Oh, I am happy to know about your friend’s page and will definitely become a fan…how awesome that her efforts grew and others have offered to help so much. It really has been wonderful to see so many people and businesses working together to help those that lost so much. Yes, Tucker loved the pool…it’s a saltwater pool so I felt ok about him going in, and he did really have fun in the one we got last year. It was big enough that we could also sit in it so deep enough for him to do a little paddling ~ lots of good laughs! I have been thinking of you so much, Cindy and was so excited to see your message. We are due for a good long “late night cookie dough chat”!! 🙂 Hugs, girlie!!
i’m happy that your are alll ok! How cute is Tucker in the pool!! hahah you are seriously making want another doggie!!
Claire, thank you for your sweet thoughts! We are, too…it was a scary day! Haha ~ Tucker loves swimming and the attention that comes along with it! 🙂 Aww…Tucker and I vote that you get another furry baby!! He said he just couldn’t resist raising his paw in approval on this one!
