A Visit to HomeGoods and Decorating with a Beachy Theme

I LOVE HomeGoods!!! What about you??  I used to love going in for a little dose of retail therapy when I lived in Alexandria, Virginia because we had an awesome HomeGoods close to our house…maybe a little too close! Honestly, when we moved from Virginia that is one of the stores I knew I would  miss the most.  But, hey, what’s  not to love??  It’s just fun to go in and stroll around a bit even if you don’t buy anything.  I had a few of those trips…I promise…really…I did.  When we were in Chapel Hill, North Carolina a few months ago I was so exited to discover there was a HomeGoods nearby and had to check it out.  It was around Easter as you can tell by the bunnies and chicks on the shelves, and I had such fun looking around.

Even though we drove to Chapel Hill, and I am sure I could have found some way to get this fun piece in the suv…well, I didn’t even try.  But, it would have been just perfect for a cute spot somewhere in our house since I have fun decorating with a beach theme in some rooms.  I could have found all sorts of good stuff to store in this stand.

This lamp would also be just perfect in our kitchen or family room area.  Ooh…how I love this lamp!  And, it’s one of those fun lamps that has possibilities.  I did a little fun editing with it so you could see just how cute it would be to add a stencil or create something cool with your Silhouette machine.  Truly beachy and oh, so stylish!

Of course, I use starfish in my beach decor so I just loved this lamp.  I have some beautiful starfish on stands, and this lamp would have looked so pretty with them.  But, I really didn’t need another lamp so I left it there…with a sad face!

I also loved this lamp!  I use birds and birdcages along with my beach theme.  This lamp reminds me of a birdcage, of course and has so many possibilities.  Again, you could stencil a design on it, create one with a Silhouette machine, print a photo on linen paper and be oh, so creative!! Endless possibilities, my friends! 🙂

This is my beachy table in the kitchen area.  I found the seashell tablecloth and runner at HomeGoods before we moved from Virginia.  The centerpiece is one of my favorite pieces…its carved out of a unique type of wood and is a fish.  I’ll have to take a close up of it for you to see all the unique details.  And, of course, seashells add the perfect touch…all kinds and sizes!  I fell in love with the four wall hangings you see.  The center of each one is created with sand, and each one has a different type of shell in it that is also created from sand.  I have always wanted to really decorate with a beach theme, and when we chose this home I knew it would be the perfect spot to create our own little personal beach.

I’ll share some more photos with you tomorrow of some other spots that showcase some of my favorite bits of beach decor.  I have pieces of driftwood, bits of shells, and so much more, and each piece tells a story.  I can tell you the spots where I picked up the driftwood pieces and what trip we were on, and when I take time to look at some of these things I am able to enjoy a little bit of that trip allover again.  Our lives are our stories, our moments shared, and our memories that are treasured.  Funny how a piece of wood…some might even call it a stick…can hold a memory, a reminder of a walk along a beautiful beach, or just a sweet journey for our mind to go back and relive a special or fun time.

Do you have certain pieces in your home that hold sweet memories…things that allow you to relive part of your story?  I’m sure you do, and I would love to hear what those special pieces are.  Do you have a HomeGoods near you?  Do you go often?? I would love to hear all about it!  And, if you haven’t been, and you do have one close, then, plan a day to drop by and have lots of fun!  I promise it won’t be your last visit!

*No, I’m not being paid to do this post about HomeGoods, just for the record ~ I truly love that store and have lots neat finds from there that I just want to share with you.  🙂 *

Happy Hump Day!
